SCIENCE TEACHING AWARDS

Every year, the North Carolina Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) grants several awards up to the amount of $1,000 each to schools in Cumberland County and surrounding areas. These awards are given to schools with a demonstrated need for money to buy tools, equipment, or material for teaching science courses,{Webster's definition of science: Using the systematic knowledge of the physical or material world gained through observation and experimentation.} Applications are now being accepted for this year's Science Teaching Tools Awards. To apply, send an email containing the following information to the address below:

  • Science teacher's (applicant's) name
  • Name and address of the school
  • State the objective(s) of the project or program
  • Description of the project/program to be funded
  • List of items to be purchased
  • Email applications to [email protected] .
  • Applications must be received by 1 March 2009.

 


EDUCATION GRANTS - ACTIVE MILITARY COLLEGE STUDENTS

 

The North Carolina chapter of AFCEA is announcing the Education Grant Program targeted to the continuing education of Active Duty Members of the armed forces in this area. Members of the NC Chapter of AFCEA may receive up to $200 for "out of pocket" costs of a course in an accredited degree program. The application is available below. It must be completed and returned within three months of successfully completing a course with a grade of B or higher.
