Sambit Bhattacharya holds a PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from the State University of New York (SUNY), Buffalo. He has served as a faculty member at Fayetteville State University, a member institution of the University of North Carolina, for more than ten years. Dr. Bhattacharya has directed several projects funded by national agencies, including the US Department of Defense, and has worked on industry contracts in areas aligned with DoD research objectives. These projects have applied artificial intelligence, computer vision and machine learning to solve problems in bio-imaging, physical security & surveillance, and robotics. His funded projects have established innovative educational programs that help train students in jobs relevant to national security. He has delivered numerous research presentations and has published over fifty peer-reviewed conference and journal papers.
