2014 JANICE SUGGS EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

 

 

The North Carolina Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association

(AFCEA NC) is pleased to announce our 2014 Janice Suggs Educational Scholarship. AFCEA is a non-profit organization consisting of over 35,000 members within the military technology community. This scholarship program provides merit-based scholarship grants to qualified students who are pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering and math related fields of study. Our goal is to encourage the development of the next generation of science and technology leaders and innovators. Over the past 5 years our chapter has awarded over $200,000 in scholarships to over 200 students in the local Fayetteville / Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina. This year we plan to present several scholarships of approximately $2,000 each to deserving students, including graduating high school seniors, college and graduate students for 2014. Now is the time to apply!

Eligibility Criteria

  • Fayetteville / Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina residents as well as Ft Bragg/Pope Field employees (civilian or military) or their dependents.
  • Qualified students pursuing degrees in the science, technology, engineering and math related fields of study.
  • Acceptance to an Accredited College or University in the US in a 4-year degree granting full-time curriculum.

How to Apply:

  • Submit an AFCEA scholarship application form – obtain at www.afcea-nc.org
  • Submit a 500-word essay describing your career goals/ambitions
  • Submit a one/two page resume, including extracurricular activities, community activities, volunteer projects, and work experience.
  • Submit up to three letters of recommendation.
  • Include a copy of your college (or high school) transcripts

Please return completed applications packages to Donna Duhart no later than February 28, 2014 (All application submissions must be postmarked by February 28, 2014). Scholarship winners will be announced in April and formally presented at the Annual AFCEA NC Scholarship banquet on Thu, May 8, 2014 at 1130am at the Fort Bragg Club. Scholarship funds will be forwarded to the Financial Aid office of the student’s school of choice.
