TEACHING TOOL GRANT PROGRAM

The North Carolina Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) is pleased to announce our STEM Teaching Tool Grant Program for 2016. AFCEA is a non-profit organization consisting of over 33,000 members worldwide and dedicated to supporting and promoting professional networking and development within the military technology community. In addition, we have a passion for promoting the development of our country’s future science and technology leaders. The purpose of our STEM Teaching Tool Grant Program is to enable teachers to purchase lab supplies, hardware, software, projectors, other equipment, sponsor robotics teams, etc.

The goal is to enable teachers to implement a new project or capability to more effectively encourage the development of students in the science and technology disciplines. Over the past 7 years, our chapter has awarded over $158,000 in Science Teaching Grants to schools in the local Fayetteville / Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina. We are now preparing to award several $1,000 grants in August 2016. Now is the time to apply.

Rules:

  1. Complete the application shown below. Applications are limited to one per teacher.
  2. Email the completed application to Georgia Popp, our teaching tool grant coordinator: [email protected]. The email subject line should say “AFCEA grant application — <your school name> “
  3. Applications must be received by March 31, 2016. If you have not received a confirmation email, please contact Georgia by phone: 910-689-1230.
  4. AFCEA North Carolina reserves the right to select the winners of the 2016 teaching tool grant program. Selection will be competitive, based upon merit, impact and applicability to the STEM fields. The number of grants awarded will be determined by our chapter’s availability of funds.
  5. Teachers and principals will be notified of their winning grants and will be invited to a special AFCEA luncheon on TBD at The Officers Club, Ft Bragg, NC, where the $1,000 grants will be presented.
  6. After receiving their grant, teachers are also requested to provide action photos of their project being used in the classroom. This will assist our chapter in promoting this program among our sponsors and fundraising community. Photos can be emailed to the address mentioned above.
